How often should I use the FIR Sauna?
This a matter of personal preference and requirements. The sauna can be used as little as once a week, or as often as once a day (for short periods). The main issue concerning consistent usage is dehydration, which can occur if you don’t maintain a high enough water intake. Generally, we recommend using the FIR sauna about 2-3 times per week, and this has shown to produce optimum results.
Why am I not sweating enough?
Some people sweat more easily than others, but a lack of sweating can also be due to other reasons. The first being that the temperature of the FIR sauna may not be high enough for your particular metabolism. The second being you haven’t drunk enough water beforehand. It’s really important to drink a high amount of water before using the sauna, to aid in sweating and after the sauna, to replenish lost fluids. Eight glasses of water per day is the recommended water intake for adults, when using the FIR sauna this number is doubled.
Can I use the FIR sauna if I’m ill?
If you have any illness or infection of any kind, don’t use the sauna. The FIR sauna is designed to take your body out of its regular homeostatic state through increasing your body’s temperature. Therefore, when you are ill or have an infection this will usually cause further issues for your body, which already isn’t in perfect balance before using the sauna. If you have any serious health conditions, check with your GP or health professional before using a FIR sauna.
How long should I stay in my FIR sauna?
Once you’ve reached your desired temperature, 30 minutes is usually an ample amount of time to use the FIR sauna. If you wish to use the sauna for a longer period, the timer can be adjusted, but it’s recommended a lower temperature is used. It is more effective to use the sauna 2-3 times per week for 30 minute sessions, than to use it once a week for a longer period. Once the timer has expired and the sauna has turned itself off, remain lying down for 10 minutes while your body continues to sweat, as your body will still be detoxing.
What temperature should I set my FIR sauna to?
This will depend on both personal preference and the length of the session you are wanting to undertake.
If you’re new to FIR saunas try 70°C or 75°C. Many people prefer it hotter and set it to 80°C or 85°C, however it’s again important to keep duration in mind; longer periods in the sauna should be at lower temperatures to avoid excessive dehydration. The saunas itself is capable of reaching temperatures as high as 90°C and the Deluxe Sun Model Sun-102 produces even more heat due to germanium and tourmaline stones inside the cover. The general rule; start at lower temperatures and work your way up from there.
